Everything changed when I started seeing dogs differently.

About DJ Busch

I used to chase obedience like everyone else. It wasn’t working.
Everything changed when I focused on clarity instead.

DJ's Story

Where It All Began

During a lonely season of my life and a deep need for connection, I began training dogs at the age of 14.

My mom surprised me with Panda, the first dog I could truly call my own. What started as a kid teaching his friend to sit and shake eventually turned into a fascination and a quest to understand the minds of dogs and what makes them tick.

Even back then, one question mattered more than anything else:

How do you get a dog to want to work with you — not just obey you?

That question shaped everything that came next.

Learning What Actually Works

As someone who craves understanding, mastery, and high performance, dog training became more than a mere hobby — it became a lifelong pursuit.

Through years of hands-on experience, trial and error, and continued education, I discovered something important:

Dog training isn’t nearly as complicated as people are often led to believe.

What is complicated is the relationship between humans and dogs — especially when communication breaks down.

Over time, my approach evolved into a philosophy built on:

  • Strong relationships first

  • Engagement before obedience

  • Clear communication

  • Positive reinforcement

  • Fair, thoughtful corrections when appropriate

Not extremes. Not shortcuts. Just honest, balanced training that makes sense to both the dog and the owner.

The Mosaic K9 Philosophy

At Mosaic K9, training is never one-size-fits-all.

Every dog brings a different genetic makeup.

Every owner brings a different lifestyle, experience level, and set of goals.

That’s why I focus on tailoring training to the individual dog in front of me — not forcing dogs into prebuilt programs or generic timelines.

Training should build clarity, confidence, and trust — not confusion or compliance through pressure.

When dogs understand what’s expected of them and feel supported in the learning process, real change happens.

Why Mosaic K9 Exists

Having a well-trained dog opened my world in ways I never imagined.

Out in public with my dogs, people would stop and ask questions. They noticed the engagement, and the connection. Over time, it became clear that what felt second-nature to me was not the experience most owners were having.

I was reminded of my 14-year-old self with Panda — frustrated, searching for answers, trying to do right by my best friend.

That’s when it clicked.

Mosaic K9 exists to help dog owners avoid the confusion, frustration, and struggle I once faced — and replace it with clarity, confidence, and real partnership.

Who I Work With

Whether you’ve:

  • Just brought home a new puppy and want to build strong foundations

  • Struggled with leash pulling, obedience, or reliability

  • Hit a wall with reactivity, anxiety, or behavior challenges

  • Or have an older dog that still deserves clarity and structure

My goal is simple:

To give you the knowledge, structure, and support you need to live a happy and purposeful life with your dog — together.
